Oaklands Road, Havant, Hampshire
Norfolk House was completed in 1985 and consists of 30 apartments in a single building surrounded by attractive gardens laid to lawn and with parking to the rear. Some of the apartments have attractive views over the Bellair Bowling Club. The properties have been designed to be easily manageable in a secure environment.
There is a resident manager, emergency alarm service in all properties, residents' lounge, communal laundry and attractive gardens. The town centre is nearby.
Havant is a coastal town lying directly above Langstone Harbour nature reserve and Hayling Island close to Portsmouth on the south coast. The town has a bustling centre with a good range of shops, mainline station, attractive church, museums and a leisure centre with a fully equipped fitness studio and health suite. There is also swimming, squash and aerobics. The Old Town Hall often has shows and there is a Wessex Super Bowl. There is another fine swimming pool complex at Waterlooville which also has a popular shopping centre.
There are many interesting places to visit nearby including Warblington parish church, which retains Saxon archways and a thirteenth century nave, and at Eastney Barracks, below Langstone Harbour, the Royal Marines Museum. At Porchester the castle stands on the site of a Roman Fort. Nearby Emsworth has a number of restaurants specialising in seafood and from here there are coastline walks to Langstone and Broadmarsh.
Facilities : These include a resident scheme manager, laundry and residents lounge with kitchen and twenty-four hour alarm and intercom system. Parking is within the development.
Havant is mentioned in Domesday as Havehunte and belonged, as much of East Hampshire did, to the Bishops of Winchester. It had two mills and three salt-houses being close to the shores of Langstone Harbour.
Havant is well placed for communications on the south coast with the A27/M27 easily accessible for journeys to Portsmouth, Chichester, Fareham and Southampton. Portsmouth ferries leave for Ryde and the Isle of Wight from Clarence Pier and from the harbour for Spain and France. The A27south of the town connects with the M27 at Junction 12, about five miles, with access to the rest of the motorway network in the south of England. Fast trains to London (Waterloo) take about an hour and a half.
